I found the Secret to Perfect Homemade Biscuits
I did a lot of research on what makes the perfect homemade biscuit and in my opinion I found the secret ingredient.
I have been trying to perfect the old fashion "grandmas homemade biscuit" my boyfriend constantly longs for and on a scale of 1-10 he said my biscuits turned out to be an 8. I consider that a 10, nobody can ever replace grandmas cooking, there are smells and memories I will never be able to replicate. An 8 is a 10 in my book.
The ingredients are;
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
6 tablespoons of unsalted butter (the colder the better)
1 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of whole milk
The secret ingredient turns out to be the butter and how it is prepped. I froze the butter before prepping it and then used a cheese grater to separate it for mixing
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line the cookie sheet with non-stick parchment paper.
Combine baking powder, flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl
Keep butter in the freezer until ready to add to mix. Use a cheese grater to grate the butter into medium sized shreds and add to your flour mixture
Add milk and stir until combined, but don't over-mix your dough
Gently work your dough together on a well floured surface, add flour as needed if it gets sticky and hard to manage. Work your dough over itself and flatten, repeat about 5 or 6 times but be certain not to over work your dough. This will ensure flaky layers
Using a round cookie cutter, cut your biscuits until all the dough has been made into biscuits.
Place on your prepped cookie sheet at least 1/2 inch apart
Cook at 425 for 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuit tops are just golden brown.
Makes 6 biscuits, ENJOY!
