A Benton County Superior Court Judge says tests who a 16-year-old boy is able to stand trial for his role in the kidnapping of his great grandmother last fall.

Dyllan K. Martin was one of three suspects who abducted 86-year-old Hazel Abel, threw her in the trunk of her car, and drove to Oregon. She was eventually able to escape the trunk with her dog in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Wood Village, OR and got help.

Martin, along with Billy J. Underwood, will be tried as adults. Martin is facing first degree kidnapping, burglary and vehicle theft charges, plus special aggravated status because the crimes were judged to be unusually cruel.

The results of the evaluations, one of which was done at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, have been sealed and details not available to the public.

Two separate psych evaluations have reportedly shown Martin is fully competent to stand trial for the November, 2015 crimes. His attorney had questioned his competency, which delayed the trial originally scheduled for December.

Underwood will be tried starting May 2nd, Martin May 16th. A third suspect, KateLynn Kennfield, was tried as a juvenile on similar charges and found guilty.
