Kennewick Fatal Shooting Victim Knew his Assailant, Say Police
Kennewick Police say the man who was fatally shot Monday night at an apartment complex knew his assailant.
22-YEAR-OLD MAN SHOT IN THE CHEST, DIED AT HOSPITAL
The shooting took place around 10:30 PM in the 1300 block of West 10th Ave in Kennewick, right near where the Aspen Hills Apartments are, but Police did not confirm if that's where it took place.
Beckett Smith died from a single gunshot wound to his chest, and the shooter, 27-year-old Jawan Osby is still in the Benton County jail on an investigative hold for manslaughter charges.
WHAT NEW INFORMATION HAS BEEN RELEASED?
However, new information in the case indicates Beckett knew Osby, and had some sort of friendship with him.
Police have also told KVEW-42 ABC TV that Osby's account of what happened is different than that of witnesses at the scene. KPD says the charges could be reversed as a result of investigation which is still going on.
Police did confirm drugs and or/alcohol were not a factor in the incident. It was not gang-related either. Other than that, we still don't know what led up to tragic shooting.
