Kennewick Police Apprehend Suspected Arsonist at Rite-Aid
A man was arrested for reckless burning over the weekend in Kennewick.
It's that time of year around the Tri-Cities where a simple spark could start a fire that could cause massive damage. The expected winds over the next few days for sure wouldn't help things either.
It's dry and hot and it's always a bad mixture especially during fire season here in the Columbia Basin so someone recklessly starting a fire is a pretty serious offense.
Kennewick Police posted about the incident on their Facebook page yesterday:
Kennewick Police were dispatched to a brush fire behind a business in the 2700 block of W Kennewick Ave at about 0900 hours. A witness was able to provide a description of a male they saw running from the scene. The male matching the description and photo provided by the witness was contacted and detained in the Rite Aid store after an area check. After further investigation, it was determined this male caused the fire. He was identified as 27-year-old Kyle Blom. Blom was cited and released for Reckless Burning.
Luckily the fire was put out and nobody or buildings were damaged. We are expecting high winds over the next few days so this brush fire is a reminder that it's very easy for a fire to get out of control this time of year. I'm glad the witness on the scene was able to help the KPD track down the suspect and detain them.
