Man Fleeing Police Near Pendleton Shoots Self, Airlifted to Hospital
A scary situation went down on highway 84 yesterday near Pendleton a man who was armed and fleeing police ended up shooting himself and later was airlifted to Kadlec Hospital in Richland
Here are the details according to the Umatilla County Sheriffs Department:
Oregon State Police are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon just outside Pendleton that resulted in a helicopter ambulance flying off with one victim.
The East Oregonian is working to confirm details, but police radio traffic indicated law enforcement around 4:30 p.m. was in pursuit of an armed suspect.
Some witnesses speculated police may have shot someone. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus confirmed the shooting did not involve an officer, but there was a report of gun fire and state police is investigating.
