Moses Lake Arsonist in Custody, Caught With Help of Citizen Tips

Last Friday, we reported on the shocking fire that badly damaged a Moses Lake convenience store.

Suspect in 3:30 AM fire captured.

Last Friday we reported (in part):

"Fire crews from Grant County Fire District 5 were called to the Airway Deli Mart, located at the intersection of State Route 17 and Airway Drive in Moses Lake.  They found the building pretty much completely engulfed in flames.

They were able to extinguish it, but not before the building was heavily damaged, if not destroyed. Fortunately, the blaze did NOT spread to any fuel tanks or pumps at the location."

Suspect is a 28-year-old male

Brandon Keith Lopez of Othello is now in the Grant County jail, he was apprehended around 10:15 AM.  The Grant County Sheriff's Office says he was captured in large part because of tips and information from the public.

We are expecting more information about this case soon, authorities spent the weekend continuing their investigation.  We still do not have a dollar value on the amount of damage done to the Airway Mart, but it appears to be extensive.
