With the recent blast of hot weather, the fire danger in the the northwest and eastern parts of Washington State is 'extremely high.'  Authorities say at least one blaze was human caused.

While lightning has been the culprit for several fires in the northwest, officials say the nearly 700-acre fire that burned near Entiat and Chelan was human caused. Exactly what triggered the blaze was not revealed by Fish and Wildlife authorities. The fire danger for all of SE Washington and NE Oregon remains high for tinder dry conditions, and the chance of thunderstorm activity.

Fire danger for the Columbia Basin is also high, with a Red Flag Warning in effect for our area, through at least 6am Tuesday.
