State Senator Jerome Delvin (R-Richland) has announced he will be running for Benton County Commisioner.

Delvin, former Richland police officer, has served in the WA State Senate since 2004, and prior to that, in the State House beginning in 1994.  Delvin, one of the most influential and powerful GOP members in Olympia, has served on numerous committees including, energy, agriculture and water, and has held leadership positions in the GOP in both House and Senate.  Delvin has also been perhaps the biggest champion for Hanford as well as  sensible enviornmental policy for years in the capitol.

When incumbent Leo Bowman announced he would not be seeking re-election for County Commissioner Seat 1 and was retiring, Delvin said he felt he needed to best serve directly the citizens of the district where he grew up, the Mid Columbia.  While his official information releases about his running for county commisioner did not address the issue, it is presumed he will not seek re-election to his Senate Seat in Olympia.
