PAC-12 Joins Big-10 in Canceling Football, Will Try for Spring
The Big 10 Conference, which includes Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and others cancelled football and now this afternoon (Tuesday August 11) the PAC-12 is going to make a formal announcement that will keep Tri-Citians from trekking to Pullman this fall.
The PAC-12 is expected to announce they are postponing football for fall, hoping for a spring solution, according to CBS Sports.
This will also include other fall sports such as volleyball, soccer and others.
The SEC (Southeastern Conference) and ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) are planning on playing as are the Mountain West (Boise State), American Athletic Conference (AAC). Also the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA also announced plans to play seasons this fall. Some independent teams are temporarily adjusting schedules, such as Notre Dame, to play as part of the ACC.
All of Division II (which includes Central WA U) and Division III, which includes Whitworth, Pacific Lutheran, University of Puget Sound in WA, and Linfield, Willamette U, Lewis and Clark, Pacific U, and George Fox in OR, have all announced they're cancelled for fall 2020.
Most of the 250 Division III (small college) teams have working plans to play next spring. Of the 169 Division II schools, it is not known how many of their conference plan to try for after the new year.
