A 21-year-old Pendleton man is in the Umatilla County jail after officials determined he was responsible for the death of his 10-month-old infant daughter.

Travis Martin allegedly injured his daughter Wednesday night. The girl was awake the next morning, but appeared to be sick.  While her mother was running errands Thursday morning in Pendleton the little girl became unresponsive in her car seat, and the mother called for help.

The girl, named Savannah, died at Childrens Hospital in Spokane later that afternoon. Authorities say Martin threw the girl on the floor causing head injuries that lead to her death.

He is facing manslaughter and assault charges.
