Police Calls In Kennewick Up 16% Over Last July
Comparing information between this July, and those of 2017 and 2016, Kennewick police said Thursday they've seen an increase in calls for service.
' These are all calls added together, not just major incidents. Anytime a call is received either by 911 or the non-emergency dispatch, it is logged. A call for service is when an officer's presence is requested or some other incident requesting police involvement.
Kennewick police said in July of 2018 they received 9,466 calls, compared with 8,128 in July 2017. That's an increase of 16 percent. In July of 2016, that number for July was 7,516. This year's number is an increase of approximately 20 percent over two years ago.
No specific breakdown was given about what types of calls (robbery, burglary, assault) were given, those are usually included in their year-end annual report about crime data. But it's clear the growing area has necessitated more police activity.
