The sharp eyes of a Kennewick patrol officer led to the apprehension of a 42-year-old man who also might be related to recent burglaries in the Southridge area.

Around 2am Tuesday morning, KPD Officer Riley was on patrol in the Southridge area when he noticed a pickup parked near the construction site of some new homes.    There have been some burglaries recent in the vicinity of 32nd. and Dawes.   Riley took notes on the unoccupied truck, because it "looked out of place" in the area with all the construction equipment and vehicles.

90 minutes later,  he saw the same truck driving away from the neighborhood.  A traffic stop and search for probable cause resulted in the arrest of Jeffrey G. French of Kennewick.   Riley and other officers found him in possession of stolen medications, mail, and keys to various construction vehicles from the Southridge area.

He was found to be driving on a suspended license, and had other outstanding warrants.   He is facing charges for car prowling.  Police are investigating to see if he is tied to recent burglaries in that neighborhood.
