Police arrested a Benton City man Tuesday after he allegedly tried to break into cars in a Kennewick apartment complex.

Shortly after 10 a.m. officers received a call about a man attempting to break into several cars in the apartment lot at 300 North Filmore, across from Albertsons.

31-year-old Shelby Haddock was seen by officers trying to conceal himself.

He refused officers commands to surrender, but was quickly taken into custody after a brief struggle. Haddock was confirmed by a witness as the person attempting to break into several cars parked nearby. Kennewick officers said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

He's facing charges of vehicle prowl, trespassing in the apartment complex, and obstructing a public servant.
