Six dogs who've completed their roles in Oregon's Inmate Rehabilitating Offenders and Canine's Program are now ready to head to new homes.

The Two Rivers Correctional Facility in Umatilla County started the highly successful program using dogs to help in rehabilitation efforts of certain inmates. Candidates are given responsibility and duties to help care for the animals, teaching them the need for caring, kindness and following through on responsibilities.

These six dogs will be at Del's Feed and Farm Supply at 2055 North 1st. Street in Hermiston THIS Saturday from 10-3.

All are chipped, and have certifications from the American Kennel Club for what is called the "good citizen" program. All the dogs have been taught basic voice commands, and would be great for a family.

Here's a look at the dogs available. They are Duchess, Hitch, Jenny, Shadow, Teddy and Yoki. For more information about the animals, call 541-922-2024. Cost of adoption is $150.
