Authorities say a man wanted in connection with a murder in Spokane was not staying at the Pasco Best Western hotel.

26-year-old Brandon Mellon is believed responsible for a Friday night murder in Spokane, and reportedly shot himself in the leg by accident in the parking lot of a Pasco motel.

Officials at the Pasco Best Western on North 20th Ave. say Mellon was looking for a public telephone after having driven a car into the motel parking lot.   After reportedly shooting himself in the leg by accident he was found in the parking lot next to his car by hotel employees.  He was discovered in the parking lot shortly before 9:45 pm Saturday.

Mellon is currently in Portland receiving treatment for the gunshot wound, and authorities say the process has begun to extradite him to Spokane in connection with a murder Friday night in an apartment.  Officials have not released the name of the Spokane victim.
