Pasco isn't the only school district facing potential delays in the start of school.

The Spokane Education Association contract expires Monday, August 31st at midnight. According to NW Cable News Network and KREM-2 TV:

"We've been working hard and hoped we would come to a fair and reasonable settlement with the District by now," said SEA President Jenny Rose. "Unfortunately, some of our School Board members don't yet see the connection between attracting and retaining high-quality educators and student achievement."

Rose said the parties would be bringing in a mediator Saturday to help with negotiations."

Officials say sticking points include some "economic issues," according to sources.  No word on how close the two parties are to reaching an agreement.
