Summer Record for Electricity Use Broken 3 Days in a Row!
It's. Been. HOT! But you knew that. But you may not have know that the Bonneville Power Administration's record for peak summertime electricity consumption three days in a row! Due to temperatures in Portland and the surrounding areas being over 100, the air conditioner use has skyrocketed, hence, a LOT of power being used. According to a press release, BPA customer power usage broke the 2014 peak of 7,861 megawatts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 1, 2 and 3, with Wednesday being the highest!
So far they've been able to keep up with the demand, but I'm pretty sure a LOT of customers are going to be shocked when they get their bills next month! The heat wave should be breaking soon, but until then, keep cool!
