Following the introduction of a bill that would do away with Death Row, the House Judiciary Committee this week has heard testimony on both sides about this bill.
Two measures, House Bill 1739 and Senate Bill 5639, would replace the death penalty with life in prison without possibility of parole. It would also require the defendant to work in prison with the money generated being given as restitution towards the victim's families.
Shortly after Gov. Jay Inslee announced executions on Washington's Death Row would be delayed indefinitely, Attorney General Bob Ferguson released a statement.
