Franklin County really getting active with drone use. It's already been deployed as part of several criminal investigations, locating suspects.

It began before the snow fell, but the Franklin County Sheriff's Department gave its first major public demonstration of drone use Tuesday. This image is from an earlier flight. The drone flight was done at Fire Station 31 for the public and media, as part of the UAS (drone) program...

We're helping to get the word out, so none of them get shot down by irate citizens...just kidding!  But it will probably be the most drones you've seen at one time so far.

Anti-terror experts and officials fear ISIS and other terrorist groups could use off-the-shelf drones to drop bombs, and it's already happening in Syria and Iraq. These drones are the same ones commercially available everywhere, like this one used by Townsquare Media for aerial views at events.

The announcement is sending waves throughout the media community, and already producing criticism from privacy advocates.

Leave it to the British papers (again!) to get the scoop on amazing technology being tested, and bringing the real story about stuff in our backyard.

First it was identity theft.   Now, drone theft?

Whether or not you will see those hovering,  humming eyes in the sky in the future might be determined by a committee that met for the first time Monday.

If the record of military mishaps is any indication, the public might want to "look up" starting next year.
