Apparently, Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdell's goal will actually be realized.

A group called Latino Civic Alliance has issued a statement in reference to a former Pasco police officer's attorney filing a motion that would request removing Coroner Dan Blasdell from the upcoming Zambrano shooting inquest.

Columbia Basin College has 'donated' the use of a room large enough for the  much-delayed coroner's inquest into the fatal shooting of a man who was throwing rocks and threatening passers-by and motorists last year in Pasco.

Thursday, Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdell announced the Coroner's Inquest planned for later this month at TRAC in Pasco, which would look into the fatal shooting of Antonio Zambrano year ago this month, has been called off. The county told Blasdell they won't pay for it.

In February it will have been one year since Antonio Zambrano was fatally shot by Pasco police after throwing rocks at them, and endangering passers-by and motorists near 10th and Lewis in Pasco. Now, for the first time Coroner Dan Blasdel actually has a venue to hold a Coroner's Inquest, which he's been seeking since last summer.

Due to difficulty in finding an suitable courtroom or venue to hold the Coroner's Inquest, Dan Blasdell says it may be moved outside Franklin County.

Despite some rumblings from other county officials, Dan Blasdel says he still believes a coroner's inquest is necessary in the February shooting of Antonio Zambrano in Pasco.
