Top Baby Names in Washington Last Year – Is Yours on List?

The Washington State Department of Health says parents are becoming more "creative" than in decades past.

Before we spill the list of top ten baby names from the latest data,  the DOH says less than half of the most popular boys baby names from three decades ago remain on the top 100 list, and only about 1/3 of girls names. Such staples as John, David, Thomas and others are gone from the top ten. Angela, Whitney, Sally, Rebecca and other common girls names not there anymore either.

The Top Ten Boys Names in WA:

1. Mason
2. Liam
3. Alexander
4. Ethan
5. Jacob
6. Daniel
7. Noah
8. William
9. Logan
10. Benjamin

The Top Ten Girls Names:

1. Sophia
2. Olivia
3. Emma
4. Isabella
5. Emily
6. Ava
7. Abigail
8. Madison
9. Chloe
10. Elizabeth.

By comparison, according to Social Security Administration data,  the top boys and girls names in 1980 included Michael, Jason, David and James; for girls, Jennifer, Amanda, Melissa and Sarah.
