Tri-Cities SWAT Team Swarms Kennewick Apartments After Stabbing
Kennewick Police Saturday night called in the Tri-Cities SWAT team to handle a dangerous situation at the Kamiakin Apartments.
Two arrests were made last night after an altercation lead KPD to call in the Tri-Cities SWAT team.
Here are the details from the press release issued from the Kennewick Police concerning the arrests:
Last night just before midnight, Kennewick Police officers were dispatched to a disturbance with weapons located at 4711 W Metaline Avenue (Kamiakin Apartments). The 911 caller reported a male was kicking and banging on their door.
Patrol officers arrived shortly thereafter and upon arrival heard sounds consistent with someone banging on a door as they walked toward the involved apartment. Officers observed a male suspect run back into his apartment, where he barricaded himself inside and refused to exit the apartment for several hours.
Through investigation, it was determined the suspect male attempted to stab a female victim with a knife. The female sustained a non-life threatening minor injury to her finger. Probable cause for Assault 2nd Degree was established for the male suspect.
Officers contained the apartment and requested the assistance of the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team. The suspect male refused to exit his apartment despite being told numerous times he was under arrest. SWAT entered the apartment and took two males into custody without further incident.
A 30-year old Kennewick Resident was located inside the apartment and arrested for Assault 2nd Degree. Another male, a 28-year old Kennewick resident, was located inside and was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant. Both males were booked into the Benton County Jail.
