Tri City Area Memorial Day Observances – Where to Go to Salute Our Veterans
Besides the usual menu of barbeques, lawn work, projects and more, take some time this Monday and honor our veterans, past and present.
Here's where to go for Memorial Day Events:
Sunset Memorial Gardens - Bypass Highway Richland. Monday, May 26th, they will begin their salute to veterans at 11am. More than 1,000 American flags will be displayed as part of their well-known Parade of Flags. Einan's Funeral Home will present the salute.
Desert Lawn Cemetary - 10th and Union Kennewick. One of two such Memorial Day observances by Mueller's Funeral Home, the veterans salute events will begin at 11am. My grandfather, a WWII and Army D-Day veteran; and my father, a Korean War Navy vet, are buried at Desert Lawn. This event also sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6753.
Riverview Heights Cemetery - 10th and Olympia Kennewick. Also hosted by Meuller's, the veterans day salute at Riverview will start at 9am Monday.
Columbia Memorial Gardens - 24th and Lewis, Pasco. This veterans observance will get under way at 10am.
Remember, the cemeteries will be open throughout the day, most until dusk, to allow citizens to come by, bring flowers, or otherwise visit and salute our veterans.
Remember WHY we call it Memorial Day. We at Newstalk 870 thank you for supporting all those who serve, past and present.
