Early Tuesday morning, just after midnight, Kennewick Police had responded to a report of shots being fired in the 3500 block of West Hood Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim who had been shot twice. He was taken to an area hospital where initially he had been reported in stable condition. As officers continued the investigation, they were able to develop a suspect.

Kennewick Police announced Thursday that 38-year-old Anthony Spearman was being sought on 1st Degree Assault with Firearm charges.

However, in another development, the male victim apparently took a worse turn and ended up dying from his injuries. That quickly escalated the charges to Murder, and according to Lt. Jason Kiel, a nationwide manhunt has begun.

Images of Spearman have been released, he is considered armed and dangerous. Lt. Kiel also released information about the victim:

"Officers located the male victim, who was identified as 65 year old Leonard Slack, who had two gunshot wounds. Officers began rendering medical aid to the victim prior to the arrival of KFD Paramedics. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and was initially believed to be stable. During the initial surgery the victim's injuries were found to be much more serious. The victim was flown to Harborview Medical Center where he underwent additonal surgeries. The victim was pronounced deceased Wednesday evening, August 11th ."
