Walla Walla prosecutors say a 25-year-old mother and her 21-year-old boyfriend sent a two-year-old child to the hospital with broken forearm bones, a fractured femur, marks on the chest and evidence of strangling. The 4-year-old sister had bruises on her face, forehead and back.

She told police her parents were upset they had knocked down a toy rack and the boyfriend had "spanked" her sibling.

The child said previously the boyfriend had covered the sibling's mouth and nose with his hand.

The two year old is now at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane. The couple was arrested Tuesday and appeared in court Wednesday. Both have $75,000 bonds set, according to the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin
