You've probably heard of the Seattle Pain Center, it's the leading medical facility dealing with virtually all types of discomfort for thousands of patients, regardless of age, disability or issue. They've got 8 branches, including one in Spokane.

The Director, Dr. Frank Li, has been suspended by the Washington State Medical Commission (Part of the Department of Health) over Medicaid fraud allegations.

The Commission released news Friday, saying Li purposely sought out Medicaid-enrolled patients for unnecessary testing and medical procedures, so that he could bill the maximum allowable amount.

According to the Commission:
"... Further, charges state, he intentionally employed recently graduated clinicians with little-to-no experience in pain management and that Li maintained unacceptable levels of oversight and management necessary to fulfill the duties of a medical director of a safe practice."

Other additional charges have been made, and Li has 14 days to formally respond. Depending upon the outcome of the investigation, he could stand to lose his license, have privileges revoked and other disciplinary action.

The Pain Center has clinics in Everett, Seattle, Renton, Poulsbo, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver and Spokane. DSHS officials say his suspension will affect the operations of the clinics.
