
2 WA Men, 1 From Wapato, Headed to Prison for Child Sex Crimes
The US Attorney's Office for Eastern WA has released information about 2 men who are headed to prison.
One of them is from Wapato
A 19-year-old Wapato man will get 30 months for Attempted Abusive Sexual Contact involving a 12-year-old. Shawn De Sun Speedis attempted sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl on Halloween of 2024.

October 31st. after the girl returned to her home on Yakama Indian lands following trick or treating, her mother was not home.
Speedis attempted to persuade the girl to let him show her his private parts, and persisted even after she vehemently refused. He then exposed himself to the child.
He will also face 5 years of supervised probation and will have to register as a sex offender.
Another man gets 23 years
A 34-year-old Chelan County man, identified as Michael Avila Espinoza, will spend 23 years in prison and lifetime supervised parole and sex offender registration, for his role in a child porn scheme. According to the US Attorney's Office:
"Espinoza met with and engaged in sex with two minor females, one as young as 12 years of age, and recorded the child rapes on his cell phone. Espinoza was identified during the course of a state sexual assault investigation involving one of Espinoza’s victims."
Searches of his social media also revealed he met with the victims several times for sex and paid the victims. According to the US Attorney:
"Investigators also observed in Espinoza’s social media records the sexually explicit videos Espinoza created and additional sexually explicit photos of the victims solicited by Espinoza."
His case was investigated by Chelan and Douglas County Detectives and US Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Officials.
