It's possible the man was struck so hard it knocked one of the mirrors off the suspect vehicle.

Benton County Sheriff's Deputies say a 56-year-old man was rushed to the Prosser Hospital after being slammed into by a car early Tuesday evening.

The man was riding this bike on County Road 12 near Hoisington Road not far from Grandview when a silver sedan, possibly a Honda, slammed into him. The car then sped away leaving the man lying on the shoulder.

From the condition of the bike in the photo, the impact and subsequent crash were significant, said authorities.

No word on his condition at the hospital, but officials think the missing passenger side view mirror might have been knocked off in the collision. Anyone with any information is urged to call (509)-628-0333. All leads can be confidential.
