Accused Box Cutter Slasher Thought Victim Was Gang Rival
Pasco police say the suspect being held for an assault with a box cutter thought his victim was a rival gang member, but turns out he was not.
The 32-year-old victim had no gang ties, say police.
The incident began early Tuesday morning at the Pasco Albertson's Store, when 25-year-old Joe Frank Gutierrez slashed the victim with the knife. The assault, which occurred around 1:30am, left the victim with a serious wound from his armpit to this hip, but it was not life threatening.
Gutierrez reportedly picked up the knife from a display, then used it on the victim. He also allegedly stole the victim's i-Phone prior to the attack. He's now in the Franklin County jail on multiple charges.
