Airplane Towing Marriage Proposal Banner Crashes

I sure hope the prospective bride and groom are not superstitious!

A pilot is safe and sound after having to ditch his small private plane near a large body of water in Rhode Island last Monday.

The plane crashed near Ninigret Pond by the town of Westerly, Rhode Island. The pilot was rescued off an island after a good Samaritan found him. The pilot earlier sent radio messages saying the plane was malfunctioning and going down.

The plane had been towing a marriage proposal banner behind it! It belonged to a company called Simmons Aviation with a service called Banner-Tow USA.

The pilot's name was not released and authorities didn't say if he successfully completed his mission of relaying the proposal!
