2 DUI’s Less Than 36 Hours Apart Leave 1 in Critical Condition in Adams County

Adams County Sheriff's Department Traffic Investigators were busy over the weekend and into Monday, with a pair of DUI crashes roughly 36 hours apart, leving one person critically hurt.

   The First Crash was Friday Afternoon

Arond 2:40 PM, Officers responded to the 2200 block of W. McManamon Rd. about two miles NW of Othello and found a sedan driven by an 18-year-old male had slammed into another vehicle, causing them to crash.

Andres J. Gutierrez of Desert Aire was trying to pass a vehicle when he saw an oncoming car and jerked back over into his lane on the two-lane county road. However, he slammed sideways against the car he was trying to pass, sending them careening off the road. Pictured is the crash area.

 The Victim is in Critical Condition

The victim went into the ditch, and rolled. That driver was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries. Guitierez was arrested for DUI and Vehicular Assault.

  The Second Crash Took Out Fencing

Then on May 17th, around 5:12 PM, Deputies responded to an area near S. Morgan Lake Rd. and W. McManamon Rd., also a few miles NW of Othello, and found a sedan driven by 20-year-old Noe Lopez-Luna of Othello, had lost control and crashed.

Luna's vehicle veered off the road and slammed through a fence, although loose dirt and a shallow ditch possibly prevented more damage and serious injury.  He was arrested and cited for Driving Without a Valid License and DUI.

Both Investigations continue.  No update on the injured driver was available.
