Christmas was ruined for one Benton City family. While they were away, their house burned.

Benton County Fire District 1 responded to the fire at 65202 E. Sunset View SE to find the house in flames at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to the district’s Public Information officer Lt. Tracy Baker.

“It looked like it started at the back of the house,” she said.

Five hours later firefighters from Benton County fire districts 1, 2 and 4 were done with putting the fire out. They worked with six engines, five water tenders, and an ambulance in case of injury.

No one was injured and the cause remains under investigation.

Two Ski-Doo personal water craft near the house were destroyed and a Lexus was damaged, said Baker.
