Brave Store Clerk Fights Off Would-Be Sexual Assault Suspect
After reading over this information release from the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office we couldn't help but wonder if authorities knew who he was.
That's because from the time the suspect allegedly assaulted a woman working at a convenience store in Prescott in Walla Walla County to the time he was arrested was less than an hour.
Saturday morning, Deputies report they responded to a call from the store (they did not say which one) in Prescott, about 42 miles east of Tri-Cities. The female clerk reported she'd been assaulted.
Deputies say the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Ahmed A. Mohamed, entered the business armed with a knife and what officials said were "modified" restraints.
He tried to 'coax' the woman into the back of the store but she refused. He then assaulted her, and despite being on top of her she fought back bravely. She sustained several non-life-threatening knife wounds but broke free from the suspect, at which time he fled the store on foot. He had also attempted to force her into the rest room, but failed.
The assault was reported at 7:59AM, Deputies say after interviewing her and gathering evidence, they had probable cause to search the apartment where he was taken into custody at 8:48AM. Officials found evidence directly linking him to the crime.
He's now facing 1st Degree Sexual Assault with Sexual Motivation and 2nd Degree Theft Charges.
WWCSO says no further information will be released at this time, but more is expected soon.
