At 8 a.m. this morning July 18th the US Geological Survey reports a magnitude earthquake struck the Oregon Coast.

The quake struck 175 miles off the Oregon coast near Reedsport. Geologists say the quake probably was not felt on land since it was so far off the coast. No Tsunami warning was issued.

This is one of many quakes that have struck the Pacific coast from California to Washington state in the past few weeks. Many people are starting to wonder if the 'Big One' is coming?

Authorities are studying to see if it was part of the Cascadia Subduction Zone, a massive fault that snakes some 700 miles from California up past Washington state, varying between 70-100 miles off the Pacific Coast.  It's believed it will sustain a major quake anywhere from the next few decades, possibly sooner.
