what's most interesting about this is the quake occurred well out in the ocean, but not necessarily 'in' the Cascadia Subfault, which is a huge rift that runs from CA up past WA.
Another large earthquake has occurred off of the Oregon Coast this morning at around 8 a.m. this time is registered as a 5.9 magnitude quake at about 180 miles off the Oregon Coast near Coos Bay
It may seem Japan is on the other side of the world (and technically it is), but when an earthquake strikes we do need to be concerned in the Pacific Northwest!
