Cause of Kennewick Storage Center Fire Still Unknown

The investigation continues into the cause of the blaze.

Kennewick, Richland and Benton County District 1 all responded

Wednesday afternoon, just before 2 PM,  crews responded to reports of smoke that was seen rising from a storage unit facility in the 6200 block of W. Brinkley Road. The location is just north of the junction between Highway 395 and Interstate 82, and south of Sagecrest Elementary School.

Two units were damaged directly by fire, six others from smoke damage. Crews were able to access two units that were burning, in a matter of minutes the blaze was kept from spreading and extinguished.

However, the heavy smoke did damage the others.  Officials have not said yet if they know what triggered the blaze, no one was hurt in the incident.
