New Burn Ban Covers All of Eastern WA Campgrounds

The Department of Natural Resources, along with the Federal Bureau of Land Management, oversee huge amounts of public lands in WA State.

New Total Burn Ban Coming Friday 7-17

DNR announced Wednesday all lands under their management in the Northeastern and Southeastern Regions of WA will have total burn bans, due to red-flag fire conditions.

The bans include any and all fires, campgrounds, etc. No cooking via fire either. Propone stoves are allowed, if they have a working operational shutoff valve. This also applies to charcoal briquettes.

The Ban Will be in Effect Likely Til Cooler Fall Weather

According to DNR:

"Officials urge members of the public recreating outside to stay prepared during fire season, including by being alert to rapid environmental changes, checking restrictions and conditions before heading out, ensuring tow chains are properly secured and not dragging on pavement, and staying on established trails."

The Northeast and Southeast Regions are two of the six that divide WA State, and are by far the biggest, making up nearly 55-60 percent of the state's public lands and camping areas.

So far, no 'blanket' burn bans have been issued in Western WA, but some localized areas have restrictions.
