Sunday Kennewick police got an unexpected 'assist' from a pickup truck while trying to apprehend a suspect.

Authorities say a man riding near 1st and Washington in Downtown Kennewick was acting 'suspiciously' an appeared to be 'trying to avoid' police contact. He then tried to flee the area at a high rate of speed, but in doing so pulled out in front of a truck.

The vehicle slammed into him, knocking him off the cycle. Police said the rider, 33-year-old Justin Langlois, gave them a false name. When police discovered this, he tried to run away and was tackled.

He was booked in the Benton County jail on charges of false reporting, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
