All over the Columbia Basin,  emphasis patrols kick off soon.

The Washington State Traffic Safety Commission announced this week another round of patrols aimed at getting intoxicated or impaired motorists off the roads.

Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over will involve every law enforcement agency in Benton and Franklin Counties, as well as all over the state.

The patrols coincide with getting ready for school at the end of the month, and to emphasize to drivers the need to think before getting behind the wheel if they've been drinking.   Traffic Safety Commission officials also said these sweeps will be targeting drivers impaired by marijuana.

The sweeps will last about two weeks, to Labor Day Weekend at the end of the month.
