Restaurants and espresso stands have gone curbside, now the controversial Tri-City Area needle exchange program has too.

Blue Mtn. Hear to Heart is the program that oversees the syringe exchange program that began here a while back in the Tri-Cities. The program services Tri-Cities, Clarkston, Walla Walla and surrounding areas, a privately funded program that began here in 2018.

They now operate out of their official location on Gage Boulevard, and are offering curbside service. The purpose of such programs, say supporters, is to prevent the spread of diseases such as HIV and others often found associated with hypodermic drugs.

The outfit says they've had dozens of people who've been able to transition to drug treatment programs that eventually get them off injectable drugs. They have maintained their 'normal' hours, just adjusted to curbside service.
