It wasn't until around 4am Wednesday morning that the road was reopened and full power restored in parts of Benton City, after a suspected drunk driver used his car to dismember a power pole.

Benton County Sheriff's say 33-year-old Ryan Bryant was headed south on River Road near Pendleton Road Tuesday night when he lost control of his car, slammed through a power pole, and ended up in a ditch. Power was knocked out in some areas around Benton City, Benton REA crews worked throughout the night to restore.

Sheriff's deputies say Bryant was not seriously hurt, no life threatening injuries, but was taken to an area hospital. His car, or what's left of it, will be headed for the compactor. His case is being investigated as a DUI, he could be facing a ton of charges, including paying for the damages to the electrical grid.
