Drunk Driver’s Flip-over Crash Triggers Cable Outage for Hundreds
Over 200 Spectrum customers in south Kennewick were without internet-TV service early Sunday morning after a wayward pickup driver decided it was a good idea to drive drunk.
The male driver, whose name was not given by Benton County Deputies, was driving near 27th and Oak Street when apparently they lost control.
The truck crashed upside down, on top of a Spectrum service box, crushing and destroying it. The driver fled the scene but was located at their residence a short time later.
They were transported to an area medical facility for clearance, and was treated for a minor injury sustained in the crash. They they were booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of DUI-impaired driving. Not only will they be facing those charges, but likely a hefty repair bill for the crushed cable-internet box.
