You wonder sometimes what motivates people to do what they do...

Benton County Sheriff's arrested an intoxicated man after responding to the intersection of Locust Grove and C Williams Roads early Tuesday morning.

Around 1:47am, they responded to a report of a brush fire, the location about 4 miles southwest of Kennewick, about a mile or two off I-82.

Sheriffs deputies found 43-year-old Michael David Burges, who was parked near the fire. He apparently admitted lighting off the fireworks, when he set fire to the field.

The fire burned about ten acres before being brought under control. Burges was booked into the Benton County jail on DUI charges, and likely others to come.
