Football is here, but baseball still going on strong, as are the memories of the 2014 Northwest A League Season.

The Tri-City Dust Devils have packed up the bats,  the players are off to their next assignment, and we start thinking about next spring.  But there were many exciting moments this year for Tri City.

Announcer Chris King has assembled some high spots of the season, and in the first installment of Dust Devils Highlights 2014, we will point out three of them. Some are noteworthy, others just plain amazing.

Playoff Race

-          For the first time since 2011 the Dust Devils were in the thick of the playoff race in the 2nd half of the season.

-          Tri-City was alone in first place multiple times during the 2nd half of the year. The Dust Devils came into the final homestand with sole possession of 1st place with eight games to play. Team was officially eliminated with two games left.

  1. 2.     Exceptional in Extras

-          The Dust Devils came away victorious each time they went to extra innings this season. The team was 6-0 in extras, including three walk-off wins.

-          Last NWL team to go undefeated in extra innings was the 2007 Spokane Indians, who went 1-0.

-          In two of the six games, the losing pitcher for the opposing team was a position player for the Everett AquaSox.

  1. 3.     Hoelscher’s Turnaround

-          After having a batting average of .087 (2-23) on June 30th, Hoelscher went on a remarkable tear the rest of the season.

-          Named NWL Player of the Week on August 25th.

-          Finished the season with a .332 batting average, T-3rd best in the NWL and 4th best in team history
