Early Morning Crash Claims Life of Pendleton Man on I-84

Oregon authorities say the 29-year-old man was not wearing his safety belt.

Shortly after 5am Wednesday, a Umatilla Tribal Police Officer discovered an unreported single vehicle crash on Interstate 84, about 12 miles East of Pendleton.

The vehicle, a badly damaged 1990 Ford Pickup, was about 20 feet off the road, on side side sitting on a rock embankment.

Oregon State Patrol officers said upon arrival the driver, Greg Allen White, was unresponsive.   He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was partially obscured from the road, and at this time officials don't know when the crash occurred, except that it was sometime after dark between Tuesday night and the time of discovery.  The investigation continues.
