Despite green appearance, Kennewick and other fire crews say brush can still be pretty dry.

Sunday evening around 7:10PM Police and fire crews responded to a plume of smoke rising from a brush fire near Park Hills Drive and South Kent St., and found a number of bushes and shrubs in a media on fire.

Neighbors were on scene with hoses trying to put it out when crews arrived. Police believe the fire was triggered by an errant firework, but didn't say what type. Authorities remind people regardless of whether it's fireworks or other types of burning, even if bushes look green, they're still pretty dry. Fire conditions are getting dryer and level of danger rising.

KPD also of course reminded citizens that fireworks are illegal inside the city limits. The fire was extinguished without any property damage.
