Fire Demolishes Storage Building at Walla Walla Golf Course
Early morning fire at the Veterans Golf Course in Walla Walla caused an estimated $110K in damages Wednesday.
Fire reported just prior to 1:50 AM
Walla Walla Fire Department officials, including Communications Manage Brendan Koch reported the call came in about a large fire at the course.
The citizen calls about the fire mentioned visible flames, and embers falling in the close by surrounding areas.
Upon arrival, Koch says fire crews found a 100 by 30-foot unoccupied storage building that was fully engulfed in flames, and had partially collapsed.
The building is located west of the main clubhouse and the fire did not threaten any other structures, but there were concerns it could spread to surrounding fields and vegetation. For that reason, pumper trucks from Walla Walla County Fire District 4 were brought in.
Crews remained on the scene after the blaze was knocked down, they stayed until about 4:15 AM to ensure no flare-ups.
Koch says the estimated damage to the structure was $110K. The investigation has begun, but no cause has been revealed yet by officials.
