According to the Morrow County, OR Sheriff's Department, the home had stood since 1840!

Tuesday, a fire was reported at this home in Lexington, which is about 44 miles southwest of Hermiston. Officials say five different units from Lexington, Morrow County, Oregon DOT and the Ione, OR Fire Departments responded, but were unable to save it.

There are a number of very old structures in our region that have been renovated and repaired over the years, despite their age. This was one of those. Note the much more modern looking windows in the structure. Morrow County Sheriff's Deputies say the building was gutted inside, it's considered a total loss.

The Red Cross is now helping to shelter and provide for the family. The investigation continues, but it's believed a heat source was the cause of the blaze.
