Fireworks Likely Culprit in Pasco Dike Fire
Shortly after 9pm, Benton and Franklin County Marine Patrol units (watercannon-equipped patrol boats) and Pasco Fire crews worked to put out a small, but fast-moving fire on the dike along the Columbia River.
The fire was west of the Blue Bridge, and was likely started by fireworks. Reports indicate there were a number of aerial fireworks and mortars being fired from inside or around the Flamingo Village Mobile Home Park. Fireworks were also shot from the other side of Highway 395. But the cause of the fire is officially unknown.
The fire was extinguished before causing any damage to property or persons. The investigation continues.
