One of Grant County's K-9's who works with the Sheriff's Department is named Chewbacca.

Wednesday he had a chance to live up to his name.

26-year-old Tyler JD Hill of Moses Lake was involved in a domestic violence incident, where he allegedly spit in his girlfriend's face, then violently threatened to stab her with a screwdriver.

Apparently, she was able to call 911 without him interfering, and he then fled to a camper located on the property, outside of town.

Upon arrival, it appeared he had barricaded himself inside somewhat, but Chewbacca was able to slip through a hole in the other side of the unit. In the words of the Grant County Sheriff's Department, he then "latched on" to the suspect's arm. This 'distraction' enabled Deputies to break through the door and apprehend Hill without further incident.

Besides the charges he will face for the Domestic Violence incident, Hill has several other outstanding warrants.

K-9 Chewbacca was then rewarded with his favorite treat, via his handler, Corporal Nick Overland, some soft serve ice cream. Well done, Chewbacca!
